Dr. Petra Seidler's Work Benefits the World

As a financial and management consultant, executive, and public relations and media manager, Dr. Petra Seidler is well-versed in incorporating change. She has been at her current position, as Key Expert and Team Leader for the EIB funded Project “Provision of Technical Assistance to the Programme Management and Support Unit” (PMSU) at the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, Architecture and Communal Services of Ukraine for COWI (Denmark) for a year. She has served as the Team Leader for Consultancy Services to the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit, with the Ukraine Municipal Infrastructure Program at the European Investment Bank, COWI, in the Kiev Region, Ukraine since 2018. Her key qualifications for this role include her experience as a program manager and team leader for large-scale international donor and IDI-funded projects in the municipal sectors, as well as her work in Afghanistan, three decades of leadership positions in multi-cultural environments, new program construction and infrastructure rehabilitation and high-level management advisement. Furthermore, she has conducted detailed program and procurement planning and can contribute her in-depth knowledge of local situations in Central Asia, as well as energy and water supply projects, tariff formulation, billing and collection, institutional development and organization skills. Since 2017, she has served as the owner and CEO of the Dr. Petra German Medical Clinic Kabul. Additionally, Dr. Seidler is a Team Leader of consultancy services to PMSU for Ukraine Municipal Infrastructure Program, European Investment Bank (EIB) at COWI. In 2020, Dr. Seidler was recognized as the Consultant of the Decade by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP). In 2019, she received the honor of being Empowered Woman of the Year.
In her line of work, she has helped bring power supplies, water/wastewater, irrigation, flood protection and roads construction to war-torn and devastated regions. One of her most remarkable accomplishments has been overseeing projects that have set up electricity in Afghanistan. Dr. Seidler serves as the project manager for donor-financed projects, rebuilding infrastructure and installing disaster preventative methods. She has worked for more than 25 years as a project manager in donor financed projects such as the World Bank, ADB, European Commission, EBRD and German Development bank KfW. Driven by her desire to help build stability through economic development, Dr. Seidler has spent more than two decades trying to bring peace to countries during or after a war or a natural disaster. She has worked in countries such as Afghanistan, Armenia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Egypt and Syria as a government-level project manager in donor-financed projects. In the years, 2006 up to 2010 she was the project director and change management consultant for the implementation of the World Bank and later on Asian Development Bank financed project for the corporatization and commercialization of the new Afghan national power utility “Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat” (DABS), today a company with more than 6,000 employees.
In addition to leading teams and helping turn on the lights, Dr. Seidler set up the Dr. Petra German Medical Clinic in 2016. Since the clinic opened in Afghanistan, residents have received quality health care services. She prepared for a career in helping others by earning a PhD in Finance Credit Procurement and a PhD in International Economic Relations from the University of Economics and Finances in Saint Petersburg. Dr. Seidler is a Chartered Translator and Interpreter in Russian and is a Certified Expert of Consolidation. She is a native speaker of German and is competent in speaking English and Russian, as well as speaking skills with Dari and Ukrainian. Furthermore, Dr. Seidler is skilled in standard software packages, Cyrillica, MS Project, MS Great Plains Accounting Software as well as Apple/Mac technologies.Dr. Seidler attributes her success to being a results-oriented individual and having the ability to bring change and results. She also credits her recognition and respect of cultural diversity. In 2008, Dr. Seidler’s work was recognized with the special Sankt Petrus medal by the Russian Orthodox Church Mitropolit of Ladoga and Petersburg as one of the founders and organizers of the “Paskhalny Festival.”
